 Leafs comeback to beat Lightning

“It’s a tough way to lose a game” a disappointed Martin St. Louis said after his team the Tampa Bay Lighting dropped a game to the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4. Hey, the Leafs can sympathize, previous to this game the Leafs had lost 7 straight, and they had the lead in 3, and had blown a 2 goal lead twice. The win didn’t come easy for the Leafs; it took two goalies to get the job done. J.S. Aubin started the game but after an early second period goal (24 seconds), Paul Maurice called a time out and pulled Aubin in favor of Andrew Raycroft. Paul Maurice said after the game “None of it is printable” when asked about what he said during the timeout to help turn the Leafs game around. Leafs Defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo, who played his first game this season since a preseason injury, did his best to clean up the speech, “Well he basically said we came out a little slow, in the second period we found ourselves down two goals. We needed to regroup and bear down and come up with a better effort.” and boy did they. They came out hitting hard and started taking the game to the Lightening and forced turnovers which lead to goals. “There are smiles around here, it’s been a tough couple of weeks” a relived Chad Kilger said after the game in the dressing room. Breaking out of a slump was more than just winning a game for Chad Kilger who regained his scoring touch and added two goals. “It’s been awhile, it’s been 14 or 15 games (without a goal) so I was due. I was getting the chances but not the quality chances like I got tonight.” The Leafs will have a lot on their plate if they want to continue with winning. Their next game is against the defending Stanley Cup Champions the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday December 15th and on the 16th will face the red hot New York Rangers. br>
