Oshawa gets new arena Andrew Marsden (HV) The newly constructed $45 million dollar General Motors Centre in downtown Oshawa opened up tonight (Friday, November 3rd) as the Oshawa Generals hosted the Owen Sound Attack.
Let me tell you, I’ve been in a lot of dingy old arenas in my day but this sure isn’t one of them! In fact, I felt like I should have removed my shoes upon entering this place!
The concourse and hallways are wide and luxurious. There is beautiful carpeting surrounding the corporate boxes and glassed in restaurant. The concession booths are clean and brightly lit. The seating is first class with loads of legroom and excellent sight lines. In fact, this place is almost identical to a miniature ‘Air Canada Centre’ in Toronto.
Unfortunately, someone forget to message Owen Sound that this night was supposed to be all about Oshawa because they absolutely outclassed the home side all night long, winning easily 9-to-5, as seems to have become the norm this season in Oshawa.
Joshua Bailey of the Owen Sound Attack helped to spoil the show with a hat-trick and one assist, while his line-mate (Marek Bartanus) tallied 4 assists himself.
The Oshawa Generals, who were booed lustily by the hometown sellout much of the evening, will try and get back on track Sunday evening when the East Division leading Belleville Bulls come to town.
