Ray-Zing the Bar Noah Borer (HV) The last time the Panthers and Senators met, Dany Heatley scored a hat-trick. This game was pretty close to another hat-trick for Dany Heatley. He scored 2 quick goals to get the Senators up on the board. Dany started the season off slow, but is definitely making up for it now. He has accounted for much more than just a point a game He already has 33 points in just 26 games, which puts him in fourth place in the overall league for points. ''This is what we knew we were capable of” was a common phrase that the Senators used after the game. ''We're a good team. We skate well and we're doing that. All we're doing is playing well as a team, which we weren't doing earlier on", Heatley said after the game. Emery recorded his first shut-out of the season as he continued to prove that he is a legitimate #1 goaltender. The Senators were out-shot (31-27) in this game, which is strange when you look at the final score of this one. When Ray was asked about this he told us that ''Sometimes the stats are deceiving, we were controlling the game and had the majority of chances”. The only worry that Senators fans had to deal with on this occasion was that Defenseman Wade Redden was taken out of the game at tyhe end of the first period, with what was called an upper body injury. Another first for Senators this season, is that they are over .500, which for this club, the way they started the season off, is a major milestone. For the Florida Panthers this game was not what they wanted to happen. They were dominated both defensively and offensively. The Panthers haven’t scored a goal in their last three plus games, which is a major problem for Florida. 13 players registered at least a point in this contest for Ottawa. The goal scorers were Dany Heatley (2), Mike Fisher, Chris Kelly, Andrej Meszaros, and Antoine Vermette. NOTE: The game was delayed for 9 minutes in the first period, due to
a pane of glass breaking. This was because of Stephen Weiss delivering
a hard hit on Chris Phillips. Anton Volchenkov returned to the line-up
after being out for 2 games with a lower-body injury. Panthers Joe Nieuwendyk
missed the game due to a sore back, But is expected to return for their
next game against the red-hot Thrashers on Saturday. The Senators face
the Lightning at home on Saturday as well.
