Swedes rule Vancouver Michail Boncea (HV) The Vancouver Canucks IKEA line has arrived almost with a bang!
Vancouver Canucks brand new first line is nicknamed the IKEA line.
This is
since all 3 players Markus Naslund, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin are
from
Sweden. Between them they got 6 points as a line and Daniel Sedin
scored
both goals for the Vancouver Canucks in a loosing cause. Edmonton
Oilers
replied back with 3 of their players getting 6 points as well. Joffrey
Lupul 1 goal and 1 assist; Ryan Smyth as well 1 goal and 1 assist and
Petr
Sykora 2 assists. The game first goal was scored by Joffrey Lupul
and
after that the game went back and fourth and it was full of intensity,
hits
and even a few fights. In overtime with Vancouver Canucks being one
player
down because of Matt Cooke double minor penalty, Edmonton Oilers Raffi
Torres scores the winning goal. If you were watching the game it had
more
of a pre-playoff or even playoff game feeling then a typical pre-season
game.
The Vancouver Canucks most likely played their best pre-season game but
just
fell short to Edmonton Oilers who finish the pre-season winning both
games
against Vancouver Canucks and being 6 - 2 while the Vancouver Canucks
find
themselves in the total opposite possition finishing 2 - 6 in the
pre-season.
During the Vancouver Canucks press conference the strongest signal that
the
new IKEA line will stay for at least la while came from Head Coach
Alain
Vigneault when he said "If I had $2 to bet I might put $2 on that,".

Vigneault also blamed Matt Cooke for getting a double penalty at the
end of
the 3rd period saying "I don't like [him taking] the two minutes for
unsportsmanlike," "If it had been just the first two I think we would
have
been fine, I think we would have killed it. It's better to learn that
lesson
as a group [in preseason] that what Matt Cooke did there is not
acceptable.". Alain Vigneault also stated that for him pre-season games
means zero value what matters to him is starting the first game of the
regular season.
